Dr. Arkadeep Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biosciences at Graphic Era (Deemed to be) University, Dehradun, India. He previously served as an International Research Professor in the Environment Engineering Lab at Yeungnam University, South Korea for over four years and also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher there. He earned his PhD in Biotechnology from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, India, where his research focused on identifying gene resources from metal-polluted soils using a metatranscriptomics approach.
His research focuses on environmental biotechnology, wastewater treatment technologies, and microbial genetics. Supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, he has developed advanced wastewater treatment strategies integrating physical, biological, and photocatalytic advanced oxidation processes to remove emerging contaminants and antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. His work also explores microbial gene resources from polluted environments and employs next-generation sequencing and molecular biology techniques to identify functional genes involved in heavy metal tolerance and environmental remediation.
Dr. Mukherjee has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in international journals and holds patents related to advanced oxidation water treatment systems and bacterial quantification methods. His expertise includes molecular biology, microbiology, metagenomics, bioinformatics, environmental remediation, and advanced analytical techniques.
