Dr. Deepak Kem is an academic and researcher specializing in sociology, media studies, communication, and digital education with a focus on marginalized communities. He currently serves as Associate Professor at the Dr. KRN Centre for Dalit and Minority Studies, JamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhi, where he also holds additional charge as Coordinator. Over two decades of teaching and research, he has worked across positions from Lecturer (2002) to Reader (2007–2010), and Associate Professor (2010–present) at Jamia Millia Islamia.

His teaching areas include Sociology of Communication, Media Studies, Research Methodology, and Media and the Marginalised. He has guided Ph.D. scholars, completed projects funded by UNESCO, UGC, and JMI on ICT, HIV/AIDS awareness, and media violence, and presented research nationally and internationally.

Dr. Kem’s prolific scholarship includes authored and co-authored research in reputed journals and edited volumes on topics such as digital education, ICT in distance learning, media and adolescents, fake news, social media influence, and digital literacy. His recent works appear in IGI Global volumes (2023, 2025) and journals such as IJRSI, IJFMR, JETIR, IJHSSI, and more.

He has delivered invited lectures across institutions, served as a member of research and academic committees, and engaged with Doordarshan as an expert on children, ICT, and media violence. He is a life member of the Indian Sociological Society and actively contributes to higher education governance through committees and consultative panels.
